A TM course in the Netherlands costs from €495 to €895, depending on your income. Full-time students pay €345, school students €245. Payment in three instalments via In3 or Klarna is available at no extra cost. Included: personal one-on-one instruction on day one, three group follow-up sessions on days two to four, two further online sessions one and two weeks later, six months of group sessions and lifetime follow-up with any TM teacher worldwide. There is a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Many employers reimburse the course if you discuss it with them. If you prefer to learn entirely one-to-one, a private course costs €1,295; we usually recommend the group course, because you also hear how others experience it.

Next start dates

The next TM course starts on 5 November 2026 in Rotterdam. Every course covers four consecutive days: day one one-to-one with your teacher, then three group sessions. The fee is the same at every centre.

What is included in the course fee?

The TM course fee is a one-time investment that covers everything you need to learn TM and practice it independently for a lifetime. There are no hidden fees, subscriptions or mandatory follow-up payments.

Personal instruction

You will learn the TM technique one-on-one from a certified TM teacher. During this session you will receive your personal mantra and learn to apply the technique correctly, tailored to your situation.

Three follow-up sessions

On days 2, 3 and 4 after your instruction, you follow follow-up sessions in small group. In these, your experience is discussed, your technique is refined and you learn how to integrate TM into your daily life.

Online group meetings

After your course you can participate in free monthly online group meetings. This helps you deepen your practice and ask any questions you may have.

Lifelong guidance worldwide

After your course, you can always visit any certified TM teacher worldwide for personal checking or guidance, at no extra cost. This makes TM unique: you pay once and have access to support for life.

Payment options and accessibility

The TM course fee is intentionally made income dependent so that the technology is accessible to all, regardless of financial situation. The fee is based on the household's joint gross monthly income.

You can choose from two payment options: pay all at once via iDEAL or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), or in three monthly installments via In3 or Klarna at no additional cost.

All fees include VAT. The course is taught by Maharishi Vedic Institute Foundation, a non-profit educational organization with ANBI status. This means that course fees are used entirely for teaching the TM technique and maintaining TM centers in the Netherlands.

Why does TM cost more than a meditation app?

TM is not an app or a group course you take alone. It is a personalized course with individual instruction by a certified teacher who has been trained for years. The teacher tailors the instruction to your personal situation, which ensures that you learn the technique correctly from the beginning.

Unlike meditation apps or online courses, with TM you pay once and then have lifetime access to personalized instruction with any TM teacher worldwide. There are no monthly subscription fees. After four days of the course, you can practice the technique completely independently for a lifetime.

In addition, there is a 60-day satisfaction guarantee: if you are not satisfied despite your efforts, you can request a full refund.

We can offer a satisfaction guarantee because the TM technique has consistently proven effective for millions of people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds over the past 50 years. However, the TM technique only works and the benefits can only be experienced if it is learned properly and practiced regularly. Therefore, our satisfaction guarantee requires the following conditions: 1) complete all course sections, or in the case of a hybrid course, complete the course materials, 2) attend follow-up sessions approximately 10 and 20 days after personal instruction, 3) participate in personal checking to ensure proper practice, and 4) practice TM regularly for a minimum of 30 days. Refunds must be requested within 60 days of the personal instruction.

To qualify for the student rate (€345), you must be a full-time student at a recognized educational institution (college or university). High school students are eligible for the student rate (€245).

The Transcendental Meditation Technique is taught in the Netherlands by the Maharishi Vedic Institute Foundation, a non-profit educational organization with ANBI status. Course fees are used to cover teacher compensation, maintain TM centers, and costs that support the teaching of the TM technique.

TM teachers are also certified through a standardised training going back generations and affiliated with a national network of 20 TM centres in the Netherlands with quality oversight, unlike solo instructors without institutional oversight.

A recognised course in Transcendental Meditation (TM) costs €495 to €895 in the Netherlands, depending on your gross monthly income. Full-time students pay €345, secondary school pupils €245. For TM, recognised means your teacher is listed in the public TM teacher register, which lists 21 certified teachers affiliated with 20 TM centres. You pay once. Many employers reimburse the course if you discuss it with them; talk to your manager or HR. Many Dutch collective labour agreements (cao) include a budget for wellbeing or career development, and a TM course can qualify. Employers rarely mention it themselves, so ask HR. It helps that since 2025 the US high blood pressure guideline (AHA/ACC) names TM as a possible adjunct for elevated blood pressure. We cannot promise reimbursement by your health insurer, not even with a GP referral; that depends on your policy.

If you work as a freelancer or run your own business, you can have the invoice made out to your company. If the course contributes to your work, it may be deductible as a business expense, and if you are VAT-registered you get the 21% VAT back. Ask your accountant what applies in your situation.

After payment you automatically receive an invoice in your name, or in your company's name on request, which you can submit to your employer.
